In Branford, April 24, 2003, A. Richard Roy, 76, formerly of Still Hill Rd., Hamden, husband of the late Elizabeth Blake Roy, father of Cynthia Roy Mercado and her husband, Orlando, of Hamden, Katherine Roy Barakos of Meriden and David J. Roy and his wife Laura of Tolland, brother of, Justice William Roy, NY Supreme Court, of Syracuse, NY, Thomas Roy of Simsbury and John Roy of Westbrook and three grandchildren, Matthew Mercado, Christopher and Colleen Roy. Born in Middletown, May 12,1926 a son of the late Albert & Ellen Roy. He was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corp. A graduate of Trinity College and UConn School of Pharmacy, after graduation he worked with his father as a pharmacist at the former family owned Colonial Pharmacy in Farmington. He later was employed for 27 years at SNET and retired in 1984 as a safety supervisor. He was a member of the Republican Town Committee of Hamden, the Hamden Fish and Game Club, Hammonasset Fly Fishing Association and Hamden Single Bridge Group. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rita Church at 11:30 a.m. Friends may call Friday (TODAY) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
