Adelaide E. D'Amato Miller, age 90, of West Haven, passed away on June 24, 2018. Born in New Haven on December 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Anthony & Myra (Nickerson) Valentino. Adelaide was predeceased by her former husbands, James D'Amato and James Miller; her longtime companion James McNamara; brothers Anthony 'Sonny' Valentino & Henry Valentino, and her sister Catherine Coppola. She is survived by her sons, James V. D'Amato & his wife Valerie Hendrickson of Greer, SC and Gregory T. D'Amato & his wife Cindy Ross of Stafford, VA, former daughter in-law Susan Smart D'Amato of Greenville, SC, and her granddaughters Alexis D'Amato & Catherine Ross. Having grown up in New Haven, she moved to Charleston, SC for 10 years, then lived for many years in West Haven. Adelaide was employed by the New Haven Register for many years before her retirement. She was an avid golfer with a life membership at the Orange Hills Country Club. Adelaide loved a funny story or joke, and she always enjoyed her music, dancing, and a fine glass of wine. Friends may attend her Graveside Service in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Section G, Hamden on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 10:00 AM.
