Obituary

Adeline ''Adele'' A. Gudelski, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a short illness on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at Coccomo Healthcare Center in Meriden. She was born December 1, 1926 in Middlefield, CT, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Magdziosz) Smollen. She attended schools in Middletown and was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven for 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of New Life Church in South Meriden. Her faith meant a lot to her and was of much comfort to her through the years. Adele loved to crochet, making many blankets for friends and family and always had a smile. She loved to spend time outdoors in her garden and observing nature especially bird watching. Adele is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Theresa Chickering of Middlefield, Elizabeth and Jarek Nyczak of Plainville, Frances Gudelski of Plainville and Barbara and Mark Brosseau of Wallingford, a son, Paul Gudelski of Meriden and a sister, Jennie Carle of Middlefield. She also leaves her former husband, Boleslaus T. Gudelski, three grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Jennifer Messner, Leigh Messner and Timothy Brosseau and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Leigh Messner. She was predeceased by three brothers, Gerald, John and Leo Smollen, a sister, Susan Smollen and a son-in-law, Alan Chickering. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Church, 92 Main St., South Meriden. The Rev. Will Marotti will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden on Thursday, (TODAY) Feb. 24 from 4-8 p.m. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Coccomo Healthcare Center for the exceptional care they gave Adel especially over the last months.
