Obituary

Albert R. Pires, 77, of 819 Sherman Parkway, New Haven passed away Thursday, June 29, 2006 after a brief illness. Mr. Pires was born in New Haven, December 1, 1928 son of the late Domingo and Amelia Alves Pires and was a lifelong New Haven resident. He was an inspector for the Olin Winchester Repeating Arms Co., for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1981. Mr Pires served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He is survived by a daughter, Valerie "Susie" Valeriano Phelmetto of New Haven, sisters, Rose Jackson, Louise Curtis, Kathleen Rogers all of New Haven, and Lorraine DeLuz of West Haven, brothers, Manuel DeLuz of New Haven and Antonio DeLuz of Martha's Vinyard, MA. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother, John Pires. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Martin DePorres Church, New Haven, Thursday July 6, at 9:30 a.m. Interment was in St Bernard Cemetery, New Haven. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
