Alice E. Fricke, 86, formerly of West Haven, entered into rest suddenly on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, in Sumter, S.C. She was the widow of Leonard Fricke. She was born in New Haven, March 12, 1917 daughter of the late William and Alice Downey. She was a long time resident of West Haven until moving to Sumter, SC. Mrs. Fricke was retired from the American Linen, Co. in New Haven. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in West Haven. She is survived by sons, William Edward Fricke of Sumter, SC and Stephen David Fricke of Milford, sister of Dorothy Sliby of West Haven, Elizabeth Brown of New Haven, Earle Downey of West Haven, Leta Larsen of OR,Charles (Sonny) Downey and William Downey both of CA. Predeceased by brothers, Kenneth and George Downey and a sister, June Downey. She was the grandmother of Leonard Fricke, Jeffery Fricke and Timothy Fricke alll of Sumter, SC. Also, survived by five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral service at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven, Saturday, August 16th at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
