Alma
Niziolek
July 15, 1921 – August 18, 2023
Alma Mae Hopke Niziolek finally fulfilled the last item she had on her list of things to do in her lifetime on August 18, 2023, when she left us peacefully in her sleep.
Born on July 15, 1921, she was one of four children born to Louis and Agnes Hopke. Alma is predeceased by her husband Stanley, her sisters Ruth (Cestaro) and Myrtle (Hott), her brother Frederic, and her son, Stanley.
Alma lived a rich and full life, filled with love, laughter and a passion for her work. She loved working so much, that she worked full time until she was 88 years old! She often wished she could still work up until her final days. Alma also loved to play the organ and served as organist in her church for 40 years, as well as played her home keyboard into her final days.
Alma is survived by her daughter Sandra, daughter-in-law Karen, granddaughters Julie, Amy, Carissa, Jessica, and Stephanie, her great-granddaughter, Cynthia (the one who made her 'great'), and many loving nieces and nephews, along with innumerable friends whose lives she brightened.
Alma will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, generosity, storytelling, and sarcastic wit will forever be remembered by and live on in those who were privileged to have known her.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Alma's family from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23rd in Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held in the funeral home at 3:00.
