In New Haven August 26, 2000, Alpha Merriam Steele, of 168 Round Hill Road, North Haven. Wife of the late R. Edwin Steele. Sister of the late Velma Merriam Allen and Harry Merriam. Cousin of Enid Clay of Milford. She was born in New Haven, May 26, 1905 daughter of the late Herbert and Lottie Barnes Merriam. Former member of the New Haven Women's Club and an avid gardener. Funeral service will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Tuesday, August 29 at 1:30 P.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden
