Annette Helen Cooper, 86, of Hamden, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 8, 2024. The oldest of three children, she was born on November 17, 1937 in New Haven to the late John V. and Mary Walsh Calamo.
On June 28, 1958 Annette married her best friend, William R. Cooper, in St. Joseph's Church in New Haven. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
Besides her adoring husband, Annette will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and William Moore of North Haven, Linda Cooper of Hamden, Karen and Scott Silver of Durham; brothers, John V. (Peggy Ann) Calamo, Jr. of Penhook, VA and Thomas (Rosemary) Calamo of East Haven; and grandchildren, William Moore, Courtney, Iain and Riley Silver, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
After graduating from Wilber Cross High School and marrying William, Annette created a warm and loving home where she raised her daughters. Once her children were grown, she went to work for High Precision Inc. until her retirement in 2000. Annette enjoyed time with her family, trips to the casino, crossword puzzles, TV game shows, and visiting her loved ones in VA.
Her family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff that cared for her at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday, September 13 th at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning in Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Ave., Hamden, at 10:00 a.m., followed by her burial in Centerville Cemetery.
