Obituary

Anthony Edmund DiSalvo, 83, of Hamden, passed away from natural causes on January 28, 2023 in New Haven. Anthony was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1939. He attended Salem State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. He later continued his education at the University of Hartford, receiving a Master of Science degree and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Antioch University. He is the former assistant superintendent of schools in Gardner, Massachusetts, associate administrator at Connecticut Mental Health Center in New Haven and CFO of Cello, LTD and Viola Audio Labs.
Anthony served on the Regional Water Authority Board of Directors from 1999-present, and for the last 11 of those years he served as Chair. His community involvement included acting as treasurer for the Integrated Refugee and Immigration Service, the International Association of New Haven and the Visiting Nurse Association of New Haven. His former positions held in the community include president of the Greater New Haven Manufacturers' Association and Cornerstone, Inc., as well as acting as a commissioner for the Connecticut Board of Mental Health and the Quinnipiac Valley Health District.
Anthony was a driving force for the Greater New Haven Community Loan Fund and served the Department of Mental Health Catchment Area Council in the role of director. He is affiliated with the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists and the American Management Association.
Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Anthony DiSalvo, and sister, Marie Austin. He is survived by his loving partner Judith Normandin; son, Scott A. DiSalvo and his wife Sherylann; daughter Doreen DiSalvo; brother Joseph DiSalvo; sister Roberta Nelson; numerous nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children and former wife, Elizabeth Sullivan.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 3, 2023, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Service, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT. This will be a celebration of his life and achievements and the positive impact they had on his family, friends, and community. Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society , American Diabetes Association , or the Westport Rotary Club , as all three were passions of his. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
