VENA, ANTOINETTE Antoinette Vena, 90, of Hamden, formerly of Norwalk, passed away on August 24, 2011, at the Masonicare Hospital in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Andrew Vena. Born in Jelsi, Campobasso, Italy on August 2, 1921, to the late Pasquale and Teresa D'Amico Gentile, she moved with her family to the U.S. more than fifty years ago. Mrs. Vena is survived by her son Dr. Michael Vena and his wife Anna of Hamden; granddaughters, Marie and Phyllis Vena and Sonia Caponera; brother, Nicola Gentile of Jelsi, Italy and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her sister Donna Paola Gentile. Funeral Service from BEECHER & BENNET, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Sat., Aug. 27th, at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Ascension Church, 1040 Dunbar Hill Rd, Hamden, at 10:30 a.m. Friends may visit with the family earlier in the morning at the funeral home from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Entombment will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
