Astrid G.L. Nelson, 88, lifelong resident of Hamden, wife of the late H. Robert Nelson, passed away suddenly at St. Raphael's Hospital on April 23, 2015. Born in Hamden on September 30, 1926 to the late Hugo and Ida Ahlgren Axell. Astrid will be remembered by her children, Barbara Joslyn & her husband John of Hamden, Janice Nelson of Madison, and David Nelson & his wife Barbara of Hamden; brother, Charles Axell of VA; twelve grandchildren & ten great grandchildren. Astrid was a devout Christian having belonged to Spring Glen Church. She was a talented artist and uniquely gifted in all facets of life. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.
