Audrey E. Rogers

Jan 10, 1959 — Aug 18, 2026

Hamden

Audrey Elizabeth Rogers, 67, of Hamden, wife of John Laudano, passed away on August 18, 2026 in St. Raphael Hospital after a short illness. She was born in New Haven on January 10, 1959 to Patricia Tinlin Rogers and the late Edmund Reed Rogers, Jr.

Audrey grew up in Orange, CT and spent many happy summers at “the cottage” in Lake Hayward, at “the beach house” in Branford, and on the grounds of the Paugussett Club. She attended Bentley College and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in business communications.

Throughout her life, Audrey held several professional positions across various industries. It was at an early job as a hospitality coordinator that she met her husband-to-be, John, to whom she was then married for 35 years. As the promotions coordinator for Connecticut Public Television (CPTV), Audrey was fortunate to travel the world. She later worked for the Shubert Theater and then the Drama School at Yale University. Audrey retired from Yale after more than 20 years, where she worked most recently in the Human Resources department.

After retirement, Audrey was able to enjoy a period of relaxation. She spent time with John near the beach, particularly in Rhode Island where they had always enjoyed the company of relatives at the Annual Family Lobster Bake. Before long, she became restless and decided to go back to work part-time at the non-profit organization, ARC of Greater New Haven. It was a position she found deeply rewarding and fulfilling.

Audrey will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and ability to always go the extra mile. She regularly checked in with friends and family, and every birthday, holiday, promotion, graduation, or other occasion was celebrated with a creative card and a trinket or two. Whatever gift she gave, it was bound to make you smile. Whether it was a singing pasta timer, a pickle purse, a cowboy calendar, or a beautiful necklace, you knew it was thoughtfully selected.

There are also fond memories of Audrey as a skilled cook and garden lover. Her soups and sauces were wonderful, and she always had every side, spice, condiment, and utensil you could want at her holiday gatherings. There was always extra food, so guests would have something to take with them. Sometimes those take-homes included things from her garden. She had tomatoes, beans, herbs, and the occasional cucumber. Every summer, she grew excited about her abundant blueberry crop and, of course, she was always happy to share. Her hydrangeas were another source of pride. The anticipation would build with every bud until, at last, she was able to gather enough blossoms to distribute to her family and friends.

Besides her husband and mother, she will be lovingly missed by her siblings, Connie, Amy, and Edmund (Lori). Also, mourning the loss of their cherished aunt are her nieces and nephews, Dana, Jennifer, Alison, Charles, Abby, Edmund, and Spencer, and her great-niece, Hailey and great-nephew, Nathan. She also leaves a very special “Aunt”, Betty. Audrey was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Paul Canelli and her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rose and AnnaLynn Laudano.

Friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday, August 28th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden followed by a Memorial Service celebrating Audrey’s life in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
