Barbara J. Calabrese, age 73, of Hamden, passed away on July 20, 2016 at CT Hospice in Branford. She was born in New Haven on July 2, 1943 to the late Louis and Rose Simonello Calabrese. She is survived by her brother Louis Calabrese and his wife Lynne of Southbury, CT, niece Jennifer Calabrese of Lexington, SC and nephew Scott Calabrese of Miami, FL. She is also survived by several cousins. After graduating in 1961 from Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, Barbara graduated from the Eli Whitney Dental School in 1962. She then went on to work for several New Haven area dentists, then Anthem where she worked for many years until her retirement. In her free time, Barbara was a long time member of the Astrological Society of CT, a volunteer at the Hamden Public Library, and active with the Hamden Civic Association. Friends are invited to visit with Barbara's family from 8:30am-11:30am on Friday July 29, 2016 at the BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden. Her funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 11:30am. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
