Barbara Ann Quigley, 89, loving wife of Rev. Harold Quigley, of Meriden, died peacefully at home on October 16, 2023 after a brief bout with cancer. She was born in Scranton, PA on March 11, 1934, the daughter of the late Frank and Mildred (Clemens) Young. Her empathetic love of people, positive faith, and contagious enthusiasm brought joy and comfort to family and her many friends. Music permeated her life. She sang in church and choral groups all her life. She delighted in writing and directing many annual mother-daughter performances. For the past 20 years she has been Sunshine Secretary and Programs Chairwoman for Unit 4 at the First United Methodist Church of Meriden. She will be dearly missed by many, including her daughter, Sue (David) Krol of Wallingford, her sons, Thomas (Anne) Quigley of Escondido, CA and Robert (Nicole) Quigley of Southington, and her grandchildren, Kate, Melanie, Katie, Ray, Alexa, Zoe, Hailey, Hannah, Kylie, and Daryl.
A funeral service celebrating Barbara's life will be held on October 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 159 E. Main St., Meriden. Interment will be held on October 30 at 10:00 a.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Rd. Meriden (Please meet directly in Section 17).
