Obituary

Benancio Muniz, 93, of Liberty Street, Meriden, husband of the late Susana Muniz, died Mon., Oct. 15, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico to the late Manuel and Angelita Munoz Muniz on April 1, 1914. He was a hard worker who always tried to do things the right way. Known by his family and friends as a stubborn, generous, practical joker who always had a good heart. He will be greatly missed by his family and the Meriden Community. Survived by his children Polly Morales (Wilfredo) of Meriden whom he lived with, Aida Carrero (Genaro) of Meriden, Irene Muniz of Meriden, Noly Gura (Jack) of Meriden, Rosaura Gonzalez (Hirem) of Aguada, Puerto Rico, Lita Hernandez (Ernesto) of Meriden, Lin Gonzalez (Pancho) of Maples, Florida, Delma Arce of Meriden, Lolo Muniz (Carmelita) of Newark, New Jersey, and Patricio Muniz (Alma) of Meriden. His grandchildren Mario and Daniel Morales, Gerry and Naomi Carrero, Vutch and Suzy Jimenez, Nelson and Tanya Gonzalez, Shari, Hirem Jr, and Elliot Gonzalez, Tito and Maritza Hernandez, Frankie, Tony and Emily Gonzalez, Lily, Judy and Mita Arce, Lolito, Carlos, Mimi and Sandy Muniz, Margie, Patrick Jr. and David Muniz and his 42 great-grandchildren. His siblings Minga Muniz of Meriden, Tomasa Rivera of Aguada, Puerto Rico, and Guito Muniz of Meriden. He was predeceased by his siblings Gloria Cardona, Anibal Muniz, Manuel Munis, Esteba Muniz and Angel Muniz and son-in-law Luis Arce. The family would like to thank Armando Vale for being a special friend, Sister Gilda-Catherine Bemis and all the staff at the Fanciscan Home, Yolanda Batista and the staff at B & M Homemaking Assisted Living Services, Department of Aging, and Midstate Hospital Friends may visit at BEECHER & BENNETT-FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Church 12 noon. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Contributions may be sent to the Franciscan Home, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.
