Bertha Helen Sievert, 91, a longtime Meriden resident of 69 years, wife of the late Edward T. Sievert, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on November 1, 2018. She was born in North Guilford on February 28, 1927 to the late George and Nellie Thody Seifert. She is survived by her daughters; Kathleen Coe (Gregory) of Wakefield, RI, Donna Damalas (Steven) of Concord, MA and Barbara Barnett (Gary) of Meriden, her grandchildren; Gregory Coe II, Nicholas and Tina Damalas, and Michael Barnett, great-grandson Gregory Coe III, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Beverly Sievert, sisters; Catherine Seifert, Ann Mahoney, Lillian Sima, Evelyn Rossi, and her brother George Seifert. Bertha worked side by side with her husband Edward on their dairy farm and store on Johnson Ave. for all of her married life. She was in charge of running the dairy store on the farm. She was also a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Meriden. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Susan Oliveira and the Franciscan Hospice Care. We are indebted to each of you for your kindness, care, and compassion that allowed us to keep Mom in the home she loved. Friends are asked to meet directly at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden on Wednesday, November 7 at 10:30 am for a funeral service celebrating Bertha's life. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 6 from 5-7 pm in the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, Meriden.
