Obituary

Bettie (Boehringer) Biederman passed away peacefully at her home in Meriden, CT on Friday, February 28, 2025. She was born on January 3, 1933, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Erich and Ottilie (Kamens) Boehringer. She attended Fosdick-Masten Park High School in Buffalo, NY, completing her high school education at Meriden High School, Class of 1950. On September 18, 1954, Bettie married Lt. Robert Donald Biederman, who served in the U.S. Navy. Tragically, Bettie was widowed after eight years of marriage when the USS Thresher submarine was lost at sea on April 10, 1963. In addition to raising four children, Bettie continued her education, receiving a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State College in 1968, and a master's degree from Connecticut State Teachers College in 1972. She taught second grade at Benjamin Franklin School in Meriden for 30 years, and was actively involved in activities at her church. Bettie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, mentor and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of selflessly serving others and devotion to the Lord has been an inspiration to so many. She is survived by her sons Gregory Biederman (Cindy) of Hockessin, DE, Bruce Biederman (Ann) of West Hartford, CT, and Eric Biederman (Anne) of Scotts Valley, CA, daughter Debbie Spaulding (Kevin) of Spencerport, NY, fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
