Betty DeFrancesco, age 90, a lifelong Hamden resident and the loving wife of 70 years to John DeFrancesco of Hamden, passed away at Whitney Manor on Friday, July 24, 2015. Betty was born March 21, 1925 to the late Ralph and Mary Mattei Candela. Beloved mother of Bernadette Gilbert & her husband Arthur, of West Haven, and Maria Cusano, of Colchester. Also survived by two grandchildren, Marisa Gilbert, of East Haven, and Philip Cusano & his wife Jessica, of Colchester, and two great-grandsons, Dominic and Rocco Cusano. She is predeceased by her five brothers; Joseph, Ralph, Louie, Pasquale ('Pat'), and Raymond Candela, and her son-in-law, Richard Cusano. Funeral service from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden at 10 AM Tuesday, July 28 for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen's Church, 400 Ridge Rd., Hamden at 10:30 AM. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home prior to the mass from 8:30-10 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
