Obituary

Calvin L. Walker entered into the arms of Jesus at the age of 95 at his home in Oxford Sunday evening, January 15, 2023, with his loving wife Carolyn of 65 years by his side. Cal was born May 30, 1927, in Gillette, Florida; son of the late Eunice and Annie (Hayman) Walker. Predeceased by 3 brothers, 1 sister, and his beloved daughter, Valerie Smith. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his two sons, Alan (Kirsten) Walker and Brian (Janet) Walker, and son-in-law, Allen Smith; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Calvin was a WWII Veteran and served in the Army Air Force as a traffic controller on the island of Kwajalein in the South Pacific. He spent over 40 years conducting and owning the Dale Carnegie Training business in both FL and CT. He received numerous awards for his accomplishments as he trained thousands of people to grow and reach their full potential. Many of them still talk about the impact he made on their lives today. He was also active in his community through the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and other civic organizations. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Woodbridge for 48 years in various leadership roles. Cal made an impact on everyone he encountered with his demeanor, his wisdom and his sense of humor. He is loved and will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, January 23rd at Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, and are invited to attend his Burial with Military Honors on Tuesday at 12 p.m. at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. A Memorial Service and reception will follow at 2 p.m. at The Trinity Church, 33 Center Road, Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Trinity Church at trinityefc.com to be used in the education and training of young people.
