Obituary

Carl T. Pleines, 84, of River Rd. Hamden, husband of the late Muriel Reif Pleines passed away suddenly, Sat., May 18, 2003 in Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by his family. He is survived by a daughter, Judith Smith and her husband, George Smith of Stafford Springs, CT, a son, Daniel Pleines and his wife, Cathy Pleines of Marshfield, MA, a brother, Donald Pleines of Branford, CT, 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr Pleines was predeceased by a son Carl T. Pleines, Jr, and a sister Elizabeth Hawken. He was employed at United Aluminum Co. as a shop foreman, machinist, for 25 years retiring in 1985, and prior to that he was a machinist at Winchester Repeating Arms Co. He served in the US Navy during WW II and also during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Pleines was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church where he sang in the choir, he was a member of the American Legion Post # 88 of Hamden, a lifelong resident of Hamden and as an avid golfer, a member of the Meadowbrook Golf Club. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Wed., May 21, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joan of Arc Church, West Todd St. Hamden, at 10 a.m. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Burial with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery.
