Carlyn Gay passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025 after a long illness. She was born in Fairfield, Connecticut on March 23, 1962 to Frank Van Ronk and the late Marie (Garafalo) Van Ronk.

Carlyn worked many jobs throughout her life, but the longest was at Zera Music in Fairfield. She loved all music, from Bob Dylan, to Pink Floyd, the Beatles and Metallica. She loved a good coffee, a chocolate treat, and ice cream. She would spend her free time gardening and feeding the birds.

Above all, Carlyn always put her family first, sharing as much time as she could with them. She was extremely loyal to her family and would sacrifice her health and happiness for them. She was very caring, thoughtful, kind and compassionate.

Carlyn lovingly leaves behind her husband, Floyd T. Gay; her father, Frank Van Ronk; her children, John Johnson, Nichole Steeves, Bryan Steeves, Jr., and Franklin Steeves; her stepchildren, Tina Patrick and Christofer Labrecque; her sisters, Laura Strang and Ramona Strang; her 13 grandchildren, Franklyn Jr., Jocelyn, Greysyn, Declan, Thea, Charlie, Micaiah, Abigail, Malana, Jayden, Holli, and Taylor; her niece, Molly and nephews, Peter and Phillip.
