Carolen L. Hurd, age 90, of Hamden, passed away on July 19th, 2017 at Conn. Hospice in Branford. Carolen was the widow of Robert B. Hurd. Born in Hamden, CT on December 9, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Leonard & Caroline (Hindinger) Lewis. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Massaro & her husband Vincent and Deborah Miller & her husband James; her son Stephen Hurd & his wife Sandra, all of Hamden; her brother Michael Lewis & his wife Ann of Gainesville, FL; 9 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren. Carolen was predeceased by her sister Hazel Gordon, and her brothers Wallace & Raymond Lewis. A resident of Hamden all her life, she was a member of the Womens Fellowship and the last of the founding members of her church, Dunbar United Church of Christ. Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Saturday, July 29th at 11:00 AM in Dunbar United Church of Christ, followed by her interment in the Church's Columbarium.
