On Tuesday, June 21, 2011, Catherine Roberts Nolan, 88, of Hamden died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family and caregiver. Born in New Haven on August 4, 1922 to the late Charles K. and Margaret Montgomery Roberts. Catherine grew up in Fair Haven and married the late Robert F. Nolan in 1949. Together in Hamden they made their home and raised their continually growing family. Catherine is survived by her children Shirley Nolan (Paul Montano), John and Cathy Nolan, Michael and Judy Nolan, Betty and George Wooster, Peggy and Bill O'Connor and Mary Nolan Foster. Also, she is survived by grandchildren Jane Tu (Danny), Michele Montano, Robert, Justin (Danielle), Megan, Donna and Michael R. Nolan, George Wooster, Bill and Tim O'Connor, and Bobby and Katie Foster. Furthermore, she is survived by five great-grandchildren and her loving and devoted caregiver Emma Girdziuniene, to whom the family is forever grateful. In addition to her parents and husband she was pre-deceased by her brother Charles K. Roberts Jr. and her son-in-law Raymond Foster Jr. Kay was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and the Marian Guild as well as the neighborhood 'Mother's Circle.' For many years she was employed by Nolan's Hamden Monument Co. as a bookkeeper. After retirement, she and her husband were fortunate to enjoy many trips to Hawaii, Arizona and Florida. She will be sadly missed and dearly remembered by her family and friends who she spent her entire life loving and caring for. Her funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Friday, June 24th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Friends may visit with her family on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Centerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests donations be sent in Kay's memory to the charity of one's choice.
