Obituary

Suddenly, in West Haven, on January 11, 2004, Charles M. ''Bud'' Leake, of 711 Savin Avenue , West Haven. He was born in West Haven, December 12, 1923, son of the late Charles and Jennie Newton Leake. Mr. Leake served in the U.S. Navy as a Quatermaster 1C from 1943-1945. He worked for United Illuminating Company from 1941-1986 1986 as a lineman, field engineer lighting specialist. He was a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors; also the United Engineering Society and Chairman of I.E.S. Housatonic Section, and was an expert in lighting. He served as a scoutmaster and first aide instructor. He served three terms in the vestry of Christ Church. West Haven and was a senior warden for seven years. He was a member of the Woodpackers, Church of the Good Shepard in Orange, Knights of Pythias, Lodge Wilmot #5 & the Anawon Lodge of Masons. He was Director of the Wilmot building Association, Chairman of the Citizens Action Committee Elderly Redevelopment of West Haven, a member of the West Haven Planning and Zoning Commission and Bud also served on the West Haven library board for three years. Bud also a patrolman for the Wepawang Conservation Commission in Orange & served on the Orange County Fair Committee. He was also a member of the Town Building and Grounds Bounding Committee in Orange. He leaves Marcia Forbes Leake of West Haven, a son Jeffrey C. Leake of Old Saybrook; daughters, Nancy Sharon Leake of Lyme, Susan Diane Lender of Branford. Also survived by grandchildren, Kristen Mary Lender, Stephanie Meaghan Leake, Jessica Catherine Leake and a great-granddaughter, Ariana Marcia Dingus. He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Lucian Charles Lender and a sister, Thelma Franadorfer. Funeral Service at BEECHER AND BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, Friday, January 16, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. Friends may call Friday from Noon to 1:00 P.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Clinic, 959 Campbell Ave., West Haven, CT 06516.
