Chief Stephen Patrick Osita Osadebe, 73, of N. Main St., Waterbury, passed away May 11, 2007 at St Mary's Hospital, Waterbury. He was the husband of Elizabeth Edwin-Osadebe. He was born in Atani, Nigeria, March 17, 1934 son of the late Chief Dennis Obi Osadebe and Iyom Nwanyiego Uzoka-Osadebe. He was a world renowned Nigerian musician and was known as the King of Highlife. He was also an officer of the Order of the Niger. Besides his wife he is survived by sons, Obiajulu Osadebe, Patrick Okwy Osadebe, Stephen Osita Osadebe, Jr., daughters, Virginia Uju Okakpu, Gloria Nwando Robbins, Lisa Oge Osadebe and children in Nigeria, a sister Katherina Ejima Thompson, and grandchildren, Elizabeth Okakpu, Vivian Okakpu, Henry Okakpu Jr., Margaret Okakpu, Adaeze Osadebe and Adaobi Osita Osadebe and eight grandchildren in Nigeria, as well as sons and daughters-inlaw, cousins, nephews and nieces. Funeral service at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Friday, June 8 at 7 p.m. Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m.
