In Loving Memory of Christopher Daniel Sheppard
With profound sadness and gratitude for a life of honor, love, and service, we announce the passing of Christopher Daniel Sheppard who departed this life on June 27, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy defined by courage, compassion, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his community.
Christopher was born on November 20, 1983 in Flushing, New York. He graduated from East Haven High School in 2001 and proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 2009-2013 where he exemplified honor, discipline, and selfless commitment. Following his military service, he continued his life’s calling as a Hamden Police officer, faithfully protecting and serving his community from 2014-2025. Christopher viewed his profession not simply as a job, but as a duty.
While he was respected for his strength and professionalism, those who knew him best will remember his infectious sense of humor. He had a remarkable ability to make others laugh and bring people together. His laughter was genuine, his smile welcoming, and his quick wit contagious.
Outside of his career, Christopher found joy in the simple things that brought people together. He was an avid movie enthusiast who could spend hours watching action films, comedies, TV dramas, and everything Marvel. He could tell you the actor's name, every movie they played in and who directed it. Christopher would remember unforgettable scenes and often recite memorable lines with perfect timing. He had an unwavering passion for New York sports teams specifically the Knicks, Mets and Giants. He proudly cheered on his teams through every victory and defeat. Watching the game with family and friends was never just about sports—it was about fellowship, spirited conversations, and creating lasting memories.
Above all, Christopher was a deeply caring man. He was rough and tough on the outside and gentle on the inside. Whether offering a listening ear, lending a helping hand, or quietly supporting someone in need, he gave of himself without hesitation. His kindness extended far beyond his family, touching the lives of friends, colleagues, neighbors, and countless members of the community.
He leaves to cherish memory his mother, Cynthia Sheppard; father, Danny Sheppard, bonus mom Erica Sheppard; siblings Drew Sheppard, Christal James, Dayna Sheppard, Dylan Sheppard and Ava Sheppard; grandmother, Gertrude Wilson; aunts Nadine Sheppard, Keshia-Elaine Johnson, and Rosalind Knox; great-aunt, Esther Merriweather; brother-in-law, Evan James; partner Jaime Waido; a niece and host of nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues whom he loved dearly. To his fellow Marines and Police Department brotherhood, Christopher loved and respected you. He was very proud of that part of his life, and he valued the bond you all shared.
Although his physical presence is no longer with us, his legacy of service, love, laughter, and sacrifice will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His watch has ended, and his impact will endure forever.
