Claire V. Montague, 76 of Meriden, passed away peacefully with God on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at MidState Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 11, 1933 in Boston, MA to the late Leo F. Howard and Virginia Howard of Walpole, MA. Claire graduated from St. Mary's High School in Melrose, MA and Catherine Laborne School of Nursing in Dorchester, MA. Following graduation she married Walter Montague of Cambridge, MA and moved to Connecticut where they raised 4 children. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Claire is survived by her husband Walter of 53 years and their four children and spouses: Mary Ellen and Judd Andres of East Lyme, CT, Carol and Ray Clavet of Meriden, Thomas and Tracey Montague of Alvord, TX and Marion and Brett Owen of Old Lyme, CT, seven grandchildren; Jason Barry, Mandy McAullay, Michael Montague, Alyssa and Mitchell Andres and Ethan and Samantha Owen and one brother, John L. Howard and his wife Ella of Saugas, MA. The family would like to thank Dr. Janet Dickenson and staff, the staff at Coccomo Memorial Healthcare Center and MidState Medical Hospital for all their care and support. A funeral will be held on Monday, November 9 at 9am at the Beecher and Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:30am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, November 8 from 5-7pm.
