Obituary

MERIDEN - Clarence E. Toifl, 83, of 54 Meriden Avenue died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004 at Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. He was the husband of Estella Campion Toifl, to whom he was married for 62 years. Born in Meriden on May 26, 1921, he was the son of the late Walter and Olive Doolittle Toifl. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater during World War II, after which he was employed as a cost accountant at New Departure, retiring in 1977. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter Sandra Toifl Failing and her husband Ken of Meriden; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy M. Campion of Meriden and June Campion of Vineland, NJ and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Karlyn J. Toifl and a siser, Olive Toifl Peterson. The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Eric Henderson will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Thursday (TODAY) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
