Obituary

Clifford Leroy Saunders, 82, of 64 Webb St., South Meriden, died Monday, July a31, 2000 at Westfield Care and Rehab Center. He was the husband off Genevieve (Jean) Mrozowski Saunders. They had been married for fifty-four years. Born in Meriden April 17, 1918, he was the son of the late Clifford and Anna Higginson Saunders. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in Europe and worked at the Miller Company for forty years until his retirment in 1975. He was a member of the South Meriden Trinity United Methodist Church and also Masonic Meridian Lodge #77, was a 32nd Degree Shriner, Pyramid Temple and was a member of Order or Eastern Star #8. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Anne Saunders-Graham and her husband, Christopher Graham of Grafton, MA; a sister-in-law, Ann Mrozowski; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maynard and Irene Fretz, Sr. of Meriden and two grandsons, Brandon and Joshua Graham of Grafton, MA. He was predeceased by two sisters, Effie MacDonald and Helen Nordgren. The funeral will be held Thursday at l p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Susan DeSousa will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
