CURTIS E. SMITH West Haven - Curtis E. Smith, 64, loving husband of Dorothy Whitfield Smith of 418 Blohm St. passed away August 16, 2001 in MidState Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Soperton, GA Sept. 27, 1936 a son of the late Willie B. and Daisy Barnett Smith and had lived in West Haven since 1971. Mr. Smith was owner of the Smith Trucking Co. of West Haven since 1980 which also was a subcontractor for the U. S. Postal Service. Prior to that he operated the Curtis Tire Service of Milford from 1973 to 1982. He was an avid bowler, bowling in leagues in Stratford, Milford, Branford and East Haven. In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving family; two daughters, Theresa A. Antrum of Ansonia, Sheila A. Samuel of West Haven, four sons, Curtis Willie Smith of NY, Edward Smith of West Haven, Carl Smith of NH and Jaques Kirk Smith of New Haven, a loving nephew and niece Mark D. Smith of West Haven and Gail Cureton of East Haven, a sister Katie Lewis of Cleveland, OH, two brothers, Condor Smith, Sr. of Lizella, GA, James C. Smith of Seymour, CT, fourteen grandchildren and a host of special loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rufus D. Smith and Lee Willie Smith, Sr. Friends may call Wednesday August 22, from 4-6 pm at the BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven. Funeral service will be at 6pm. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Thursday morning at 10am.
