In Hamden, October 26, 2006, Daniel L. Potts, 71, of Hamden, father of Hilary Potts and her husband, Michael House of Danbury, Andrew Potts and wife, Erica of Canton, MA and Jessica Payne and husband, Bobby of Sydney, Australia; grandfather of Stephen Potts, Garrett House, Matthew Potts, Evan House, Adam Payne and Madelyn Payne; cousin of Norman Gacca and his wife, Marie. Also survived by his former wife, Judy Bluestone Potts of Norwood, MA and special friends, Carol Podgwaite and Anita Sorraco. Mr. Potts was born in Buffalo, NY, Sept.1, 1935, son of the late Stanley and Genevive Kulczyk Potts. He joined General Electric as a quality control engineer and spent over 35 years with the company in various locations and businesses. Dan became and renowned expert in non Ferris materials. He completed his career as Manager of the Materials Information Service with Keane Consultants in Boston, MA. A life long devotee of opera and other cultural endeavors, Dan was active member of The Schenectady Arts Council and a founding member and First President of the Achilles Figure Skating Club at Union College. He was also a founding member of Temple Sinai in Burlington, VT. He established several meeting groups for AA and was a faithful and proud participant for over thirty years. Dan was a Hamden Mayoral candidate for the Republican Party in 2001. Dan ran for the council seat for the 8th district in 1997, 1998 and 2003. He was a certified moderator who ran the district polls in the last two state/federal elections. Dan was an active member of the Hamden Republican Town committee for over 15 years. He was presently the Hamden Coordinator for Governor Jodi Rell's Re-election Campaign.
