David E. Howell of Hamden, loving husband of Maria (DeVit) Howell, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2022. He was born in 1949 in New Haven, son of the late Elmer and Mary Tuite Howell. Prior to his retirement, David worked for the Veterans Hospital in West Haven. Besides his wife, he is survived by his brothers, Robert (and sister-in-law Pearl) Howell of Wallingford, and Wayne Howell of Cheshire; brother-in-law Philip DeVit, with whom David shared a special bond; his dearest friend Eddy Scala; his beloved golden retrievers Gemma, Geno, and Manny; and a host of other relatives and friends. David was always a phone call away if you needed him. He embraced the true meaning of friendships.
