Meriden- Don C. Green, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 18, 2007. He is survived by Martha (Fellman) Green his wife of 58 years. He was born December 21, 1923 in Meriden a son of the late Isaac and Gertrude (Bidwell) Green. He was head custodian at Platt High School at the time of his retirement. Don was a veteran of WWII having proudly served his country in the U.S.Navy. He was an marathon runner having run in the Boston Marathon as well as having competed in many local road races. He was a 70 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Meriden. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Karen Barnes of Zionsville, IN and Alison Green of Meriden, one granddaughter, Kami Barnes and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 159 East Main St., Meriden. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations in Don's memory may be made to First United Methodist Church, Scholarship Fund. The Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home 48 Cook Ave., Meriden is in charge of the arrangements.
