Donald J. Smith, age 82, of West Haven, passed away January 23, 2012. Donald was predeceased by his wife, Dorcas Nichols Smith. Born in Ansonia on March 12, 1928, he was a son of the late Matthew P. & Mae Burns Smith. Donald was a WWII US Navy Veteran and a retired Tool & Die Maker, employed by the former G & O Manufacturing Company in New Haven. Donald is survived by his brother Leslie Smith of Buffalo, NY, 18 nieces and nephews and his very good friends, Ralph Biondi & Nancy Ortiz of West Haven. He was predeceased by a sister and 3 brothers. Donald was a past member of the Waucoma Yacht Club and the Elks Club in New Haven. Friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at St. Lawrence Church, West Haven. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
