Dorathea Ann Lindbeck, age 54, of Hamden, passed away on September 5, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Ann was the wife of William D. Stempel; mother of Adam Lindbeck Stempel of Washington, DC; sister of John Lindbeck & his wife Cathy of Devens, MA, Sarah Perkins of Los Angeles, CA and Kathy Lindbeck of Hamden, CT and aunt of Jennie and John Perkins of Los Angeles, CA and Emily Lindbeck of Worcester, MA. Born in Washington, DC on November 25, 1956, Ann was a daughter of the late John M.H. Lindbeck and Dorathea Wehrwein Lindbeck. After graduating from the Hopkins Day Prospect School, she went on to attend Vassar College and graduated from Wesleyan University with her BA degree. She later attended Massachusetts College of Art where she received her M.F.A. degree. Ann had a long and accomplished career as an artist, bookbinder, and teacher. Friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering on Sept. 11, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Eli Whitney Museum, 915 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be held privately with her family. Arrangements are in care of Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden.
