Doris M. Koepke, 89, of Thompson St., North Haven passed away August 29, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born in New Haven May 15, 1922 a daughter of the late Leon M. and Florence Steele Humphrey, and resided in West Haven for many years before moving to North Haven. She was employed at the Federal Paper Board Co. and later the Poly Tube Co. of Hamden before retiring in 1984. Doris was a wonderful seamstress, enjoyed needlepoint, crewel, puzzle books, nature, and was known for her love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Judith L. Jennette of North Haven, a son Wayne R. Koepke of West Haven, 5 grandchildren, Vicki Koepke, Sean Corenki, Brian Koepke, Renee Corenki, Lauren Jennette, and 3 great-grandchildren, Chelsea Verda, Bruce Koepke, and Sofia Bobko. Doris was predeceased by her brother Leon M. Humphrey. Friends may visit with her family Thursday Sept. 1, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at the BEECHER & BENNETT -TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven. Funeral service will be Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.
