Dorothy A. Delaney, 95, of Hamden, loving wife of 60 years to the late Kenneth T. Delaney, passed away on July 19, 2026. She was born on December 5, 1930, daughter of the late Edward and Anna Connolly Bly. Dorothy is survived by her children, Kenneth Delaney, Eileen Delaney and her partner Steve Woollard, Ann Weiss and her husband William, Kathleen Howe and her husband David, and Kevin Delaney and his wife Lauri; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Edward Bly.
Dorrie was born in NYC and considered herself a “New Yorker.” She moved to Farmingdale, LI, where she and Ken raised their children. On LI, she worked as a legal secretary and earned a BA in history, a life-long dream of hers. Upon retirement, she and Ken moved to CT. Her life was filled with family, friends, and travel. A voracious reader, she was a patron of public libraries.
Friends are invited to visit with Dorothy’s family on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul VI Parish-Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden, followed by being laid to rest with her husband Kenneth at the State of CT Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. Memorial Contributions in her name may be made to the Hamden Library Gift Fund, 2901 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518, www.hamdenlibrary.org.
