Dorothy Olga Evarts, 91, of Meriden, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born in Hartford on January 28, 1926 to the late Jacob and Harriet White Krampitz. She had been a longtime Meriden resident. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Alton Evarts. For most of her life, she had been an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Before retiring as a waitress from Fishers Fine Foods, Dorothy worked for the family business, Meriden Awning Company. When she wasn't working or taking care of her family, puzzles, card games, reading and crocheting were some of her favorite pasttimes. Along with her husband, Dorothy loved to travel, camp, and go on cruises. She will be remembered for always being so vibrant and full of life, and also for her quick wit and charm, always ready with a joke and a smile. Dorothy will be remembered by her children, Sandra Seagren of Naugatuck, Edward (Isabell) of Pittsburg, NH, Robert (Cindy) of Hedgesville, WV, Donald (Susan) of Essex; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She shared a special relationship with her granddaughter, Marissa Van Hennik, and her grandson, Travis Bossidy, for which they will be forever grateful. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Tristan Evarts, and her son-in-law Bruce Seagren. BEECHER & BENNETT-FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden in care of private arrangements.
