Dorothy Anne Vanacore, 94, wife of the late Earnest J. Vanacore, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2010 at Miller Memorial Community after a long illness. She was born on March 6, 1916, a daughter of the late William and Mary Asher Ford. Dorothy was the beloved mother to her children; Diane Nichols of North Haven and Ronald Vanacore and his wife Linda of Hamden; grandchildren, Ronald Vanacore, Jr and his wife Alisa of Hamden, Michael Vanacore of Middletown, David Nichols and his wife Maura of Albany, NY, and Kevin Nichols of Hamden; great grandson, Logan Vanacore of Hamden; siblings, Marie Klek of New Haven, Jean Abramavitz of Milford, and John Ford of Florida. Besides her beloved husband, she is predeceased by her brother William Ford and her oldest and dearest friend, Hope Carpentieri Perfetto. Dorothy grew up in New Haven before moving to North Haven in 1954. She was a parishioner of St. Rita's Church for 56 years. Dorothy loved to travel and take trips with family or friends. She loved a good party, socializing, and laughing with friends. Most of all, Dorothy cherished time spent with her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita's Church on Thursday, August 12th at 10:00 a.m. BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT. in care of arrangements.
