Edgar Alan Flynn, 91, of Meriden, passed away at his residence on July 22, 2025. Born in Hartford on October 22, 1933 to the late Martin and Mildred Pitts Flynn. After growing up in East Hampton, Edgar graduated from UConn before spending his career as an English teacher at Wilcox Technical High School. In 1959, as a talented catcher, he helped the Huskies Baseball team make it to the College World Series. Once a teacher at Wilcox, Edgar shared his athletic skills with the students while coaching the school's baseball, softball, and girls' volleyball teams. After high school he proudly served his country while in the Navy. In 1961 Edgar married his high school sweetheart, Janet Peregrin Flynn. Theirs was a true love affair, having spanned over 70 years before Janet passed away in 2022. Faith was a huge part of Edgar's life. He was influential in the start of St. John Lutheran Preschool in Meriden, later becoming an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford. Edgar and Janet had a shared love of music and enjoyed their time together in the Meriden and Wallingford Choruses, along with seeing Broadway shows. Besides the love for his family, Edgar had a special place in his heart for their family pets over the years.
Edgar will be loving remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Nora and Mark Roderick of Meriden; daughter-in-law, Marianne Buck Flynn of Higganum; grandchildren, Emma and Jillian Roderick and Evan Flynn; and sister, Sally Smith.
