In Wallingford, August 26, 2004, Edna M. Spicer, of Masonic Healthcare, formerly of Ashlar Village, Wallingford 1992-2000 and formerly of Whitney Ave., Hamden, 1935-1992. Mrs. Spicer was born in Newark, NJ, Feb. 1, 1910, daughter of the late Oscar and Elizabeth Schaefer Kaelberer and the wife of 70 years of the late Russell F. Spicer. She was a Paul Harris Fellow in Hamden Rotary Club and traveled with her husband to Rotary Conventions in Japan, Europe and the Western United States, including Alaska. She was a member of the Spring Glen Church in Hamden for many years, a member of Wives of Hamden Rotary, she was a volunteer at the Hamden Children's Center, member of Mt. Carmel Book Club and was an Ashlar Village Volunteer. Mrs. Spicer is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Diana Kelley of Belmont, MA, two sons, Dirck Spicer of Durham, CT and David Spicer of Asheville, NC, a brother, John Kaelberer of Sarasota, FL, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Mildred Courter and Elizabeth Mulcahy. Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
