Obituary

Edward Hinchberger III, AKA 'Fast Eddie', left us all for a better place on June 10, 2014. He was born June 16, 1954, and would have celebrated his 60th birthday tomorrow. Eddie quietly fought an on-going illness with the love of his life, Cindy, always by his side. Nobody knew he was ill. That's the way he wanted it, and Cindy honored his wishes. Fast Eddie had a personality and wit unlike any other. He could spin a simple thought into a hilarious story, creating a room full of laughter. He was and will remain a legend in the bar business, and will always be loved and missed by his employees and customers. He was always there for his friends when they needed him, regardless of the task. He left his mark throughout the ages with locations in East Hartford and Cromwell, Fast Eddie's in Meriden, 10 East Main St. in Avon, Gin Eddie's and most recently City Tavern (formerly Milner's) here in Meriden, where he loved to start each day with the 'boys' and carry on the tradition of the old 'Gin Mill.' Thoughts, reflections, and insights of Eddie could go on and on....his was a life filled with great friends, memories, and adventures. Eddie's unique perspective on life and his one of a kind smile will live on in our hearts forever. Eddie is survived by his love of 18 years, Cindy Cox of Meriden; his sister Karen Hinchberger of Torrence, CA, and his beautiful 'triplet' nieces, Britney, Melissa and Sherri; his Aunt Sharon and Uncle Wilson Kamm, of San Antonio, TX, who loved him dearly; and his cousins, Debra and Adam. He also leaves his father-in-law, Robert Cox, Sr. of Shelton; his brother in law Robert 'Buddy' Cox Jr. and Buddy's wife Cindy of Ft. Myers, FL; his sister-in-law, Laura Daniels of Morris, Cindy's cousins Patti & Chris Ball of NY, as well as many, many, many extended family and friends. Cindy and her family ask that you join them for a memorial gathering to celebrate Eddie's life on Friday, June 20, 2014, from 4-7 PM at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
