Edward Slimskey, 88, of Glen Hill Rd., Meriden, husband of the late Irene Rose Karash Slimskey, Oassed away on January 26, 2007 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. Born in New Britain on December 13, 1918 a son of the late Charles and Kazmieri Launis Slimskey. Edward will be missed terribly by his long time companion Mary Leonard, daughter April Slimskey of Vallejo, CA, sons, Lee Karash and his wife, Isabella of West Haven, Neil Karash and his wife, Christina of Meriden, grandchildren, Philip Karash of West Haven, Amy Bishop of Southington, his sister, Irene Timko of Windsor Locks, and his brother, Leonard Slimskey of Berlin. Predeceased by siblings George, Victor, and Lucy Slimskey. Edward was a very tallented automobile painter and made a career out of honing his talent and skill. When he wasn't working, he was fishing, ice fishing, and hunting with his family and friends. As a young man he had joined the US Army and spent most of his service in Europe where he became fond of traveling and seeing the world. His interest in travel grew and later in life he continued to explore the US and other parts of the globe. Besides being remembered as an amazing automobile painter and an avid fisherman and hunter, he will be remembered for his peacful yet strong personality, his honesty, his great work ethic, the dedication he had for his family and friends, and for being an amazing father. Funeral service will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave, Meriden, Wed. Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. Friends may visit with the family on Tue. from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery.
