Obituary

Eleanor Louise Luers Pelley, 96, formerly of North Haven, Connecticut, passed away June 18, 2025 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born in New London and spent her early years in Groton, CT. Her major was Music Education at Barrington Bible College. She loved music and often sang in churches and for special occasions.

She married James Pelley June 5, 1954 in Barrington, RI. During their 53 years of marriage, they served the Lord at WHJC, Matewan, WV, ELWA, Liberia, West Africa, and WIHS in Middletown, CT. They also helped start Opportunity House in Hamden.

Eleanor was predeceased by her grandparents, William and Myrtle Lewers; her mother and stepfather, Charles and Dorothy L. Welch; and her husband, James H. Pelley. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Tremain (David) and Stephen Pelley, her grandchildren, Aaron (Kim), Matthew, and Christina Tremain, and her great-grandchildren, Noah and Amelia Tremain.

Friends are invited to visit with her family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Tuesday, July 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral will be at Liberty Community Church, 540 Washington Ave, North Haven on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Following a luncheon at the church, she will be buried in Jordan Cemetery, 240 Boston Post Road, Waterford at 2:00 p.m.
