In Branford, Sept. 21, 2003, Ellen Margaret Hemingway Nordin, 83, wife of the late Roy T. Nordin of 135 Putnam Ave., Hamden, mother of Glenn R. Nordin of North Branford, Roy E. Nordin of Seattle, WA, sister of Edwin P. Hemingway of Brevard, NC. Also survived by a special niece, Betty A. Miles of Austin, TX and several other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister, Deborah H. Harper and two brothers, Thornton W. Hemingway, Jr. and Pendleton G. Hemingway. Mrs. Nordin was born in New Haven, January 19, 1920 daughter of the late Thornton W. and Gladys May Pendleton Hemingway, Sr. She owned and operated the Roy-El Laundromat, Dixwell Ave., Hamden, with her late husband. Mrs. Nordin was a resident of Orange from 1950 to 1993 when she moved to Hamden. Funeral service at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. Friends may call from 9:30 to10 a.m. Interment will be in Westville Cemetery.
