Ernest J. Asprelli, Sr., age 82, of Woodbridge, husband of the late Joan (Pepe) Asprelli, passed away at his home on March 27, 2017. Born in New Haven on February 6, 1936, he was a son of the late Joseph and Amalia (Luzzi) Asprelli. He is survived by his two sons, Ernest J. Asprelli, Jr. and his wife Carol and Richard J. Asprelli; and two beloved granddaughters, Vera M. Asprelli & Valeria 'Lera' Asprelli. Ernest was predeceased by his brother, Robert M. Asprelli. Ernie began a lifetime career investing and trading in the financial markets at the age of 15. Licensed as a Stockbroker in 1960, Ernie began his career at Bache and Company. As he progressed through his career Ernie held positions with Shearson Hayden Stone, Lehman Brothers, Smith Barney, and Citigroup, ending his 50 year career as a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor for Morgan-Stanley Wealth Management in New Haven. A U.S. Army Veteran, Ernie served his country during the Korean War. A resident of Woodbridge since 1973, Ernie was involved in numerous community organizations, including the Woodbridge Rotary Club, where he was a Past President, and was a former member of the Woodbridge Zoning Board of Appeals. Ernie served on the Parish Council for Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Woodbridge, CT and was a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition, Ernie was a lifetime member of the Amity Club of New Haven. His Funeral will be held from Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden at 9:00 AM Tuesday, April 3rd, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Rd., Woodbridge. Burial will take place in Northwest Cemetery, Woodbridge. Friends may also visit with his family Monday, April 2nd, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
