Obituary

Ernest Eugene Greene, 85, loving husband of Dothia VonBritton Greene of Dixwell Ave., New Haven, passed away January 3, 2004. Mr. Green was born in Sumter, SC, Feb. 15, 1918, a son of the late James and Minnie Washington Greene and had resided in New Haven since 1930. He was employed at the Yale University Power Plant for 20 years before his retirement, in 1988 he went to work for Northeast Stamp as a typesetter for fifteen years. He was a member of the Trinity Church on the Green in New Haven where he served on the Vestry Committee and was an Usher. In addition to his wife, Mr. Greene is survived by a daughter, Ernestine Barnes of Los Angeles, CA, two sons; Bernard Greene and Mark Greene, both of NY, father-in-law of William Barnes, Sr., a brother, Donald Greene of West Haven, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Brother-in-law of Agnes White of Cheshire, Joseph VonBritton of Northford, and Bernice Garcia of Hamden. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Reaves and Lula Boyd and a brother, Herbert Greene. Special thanks to Frank Lee, Sr., Eric Wells of New Haven, Dr. Toksoy and Melanie and staff at the Yale University Health Services of Hillhouse Avenue in New Haven. Funeral service will be held Saturday Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. in the Trinity Church on the Green, corner of Temple & Chapel St., New Haven. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Friday from 4-7p.m. Burial in All Saints Cemetery.
