Ethel A. Matakaetis, 87, of Wallingford, wife of the late Charles W. Matakaetis, passed away July 21, 2015 after a brief illness. Mother of Rev. Charlene Bruce of Wallingford and Charles 'Bud' Matakaetis of North Haven, and grandmother of Benjamin and Charles Matakaetis. She was predeceased by her brothers Edward and Irving Rawson. Ethel was born in New Haven, CT June 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Edward A. and Florence Hubbard Rawson and grew up in West Haven. She moved to Florida in 1979 and resided there until returning to Wallingford in 2003. Ethel was a member of the West Haven Congregational Church, and most recently a member of the Wallingford Congregational Church. She was always creative and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, crafts, and gardening. Friends may visit with her family at the BEECHER & BENNETT-TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven Friday, July 24, 2015 from 5 to 7:30 PM and are invited to attend a prayer service at 7:30 PM.
