Eugene Romanowski, 93, a longtime resident of North Haven died on January 30, 2023 after a short illness. Born in New Haven on November 20, 1929 to the late Kostanty and Pauline Bulka Romanowski. Gene was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict before being employed for over 20 years as a construction operating engineer. Upon his retirement Gene enjoyed fishing and flying model airplanes. He also spent years working with polo horses in Florida and Connecticut along with playing the sport.
Gene is survived by his sister, Theresa Mucha, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his older brother, John Romanowski, and his sisters, Josephine Dziamalek, Katherine Romanofsky, Frances Bozentks, and Jennie Romanowski.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Harbor Unit at Benchmark Assisted Living of Hamden for all their care and understanding for Gene over the last five years.
Family and friends are invited to visit at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday, February 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church followed by his interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
