MERIDEN-Eva Fernandez, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 20, 2017 at Coccomo Memorial Health Care Center in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of the late Elio Fernandez. Eva was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on May 28, 1930 daughter of the late Otilio and Maria Estrada Rodriguez. Eva grew up in Puerto Rico before coming to the United States. She has lived in Meriden for the past 20 years and was a very active member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Meriden. As a resident of Meriden she was actively involved in the community most recently volunteering her time at MidState Medical Center as an advocate for cancer survivors. Eva is survived by her children Diana Bosch and her husband Angel of Pearland, TX, Zaida Molina and her husband Hector of Meriden, and Edwin Ramirez of Cayey, Puerto Rico; grandchildren Hector and Lauren Molina, Rafael and Giovanni Bosch, and Michelle Mass; and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Roberto and Otilio Rodriguez, and Ana Maria Matos. Eva's funeral services will begin on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, Meriden. Burial will take place in Puerto Rico at a later date. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Eva's family on Monday, July 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
